Rosacea causes persistent redness, flushing and visible broken capillaries, usually across the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. At Pure Light Laser we treat it with IPL photofacials (intense pulsed light), which target the redness and the small visible blood vessels. Most clients need about 5 treatments, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart.
Rosacea is a common, chronic skin condition. It often starts as flushing that comes and goes, then over time the redness can stay, small blood vessels can become visible, and some people get bumps that look like acne. Common triggers include sun and heat, hot drinks, alcohol, spicy food and stress. It is often mistaken for sensitive skin or acne, which is why an assessment matters before choosing a treatment.
IPL delivers pulses of light that are absorbed by the redness in the small blood vessels just under the skin. The light heats those vessels so the body gradually clears them, which reduces the background redness and the visible capillaries. The same light also treats sun damage, so it can even out your overall skin tone.
IPL can also reduce the Demodex mites linked to rosacea flare-ups, and may lower the risk of related problems like dry eye and ocular rosacea.
Every treatment plan starts with a free 45-minute consult. Rita looks at your skin, asks about your triggers and what you have tried, and tells you plainly whether IPL is the right fit.
If your main concern is sun spots or broken capillaries rather than rosacea, see our IPL photofacial page.
Most clients need about 5 IPL treatments, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart. The exact number depends on how much redness and how many visible vessels you have. Spacing them out gives your skin time to respond between sessions.
No treatment cures rosacea, because it is a chronic condition. IPL can noticeably reduce the redness, flushing and visible broken capillaries. Avoiding your triggers and using daily sun protection helps keep it under control afterwards.
IPL photofacials for rosacea start at $120 + GST per treatment. Your first consult is free, and you will know the full plan and cost before you book any treatments.
