Different Scar Revision treatments for different needs

Revision procedures include skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, steroid injection, skin flap surgery, fractional laser, z-plasty, graft surgery, cosmetic surgery and chemical peels. These are all offered in Vancouver.

Unlike laser acne treatments, scar revision can minimize the appearance of a scar, but sometimes it won't be completely removed. We will consult with you to determine the best scar revision treatment for your case and to give you an idea as to the potential difference in appearance that can be expected.

Age doesn't matter

Scar revision can treat most scars even if it is over 20 years old.

It can treat Hypertrophic scars that occur when the body over produces collagen . This scar tissue can be broken down by the 1540 fractional but at times two cortosone injection to flatten it a bit may be needed.

Atrophic scar that often acne scars are that are sunken into the skin that often is pitted or ice pick scars are the most common type of scarring that people approach Pure Light Laser for. It seems so many people suffer with this type of scars and the laser is so successful with this type of scar.

New technology lets us treat stretch marks for removal

We can also treat stretch marks which is a new addition in the cosmetic laser field. 1540 fractional was the first FDA laser to prove that Laser can lighten, stimulate and bring colour back to the area of a stretch mark and reduced it in appearance up to 90%.

Laser is the most common way of treating a scar but at times Skin care products or chemical peels may work but it truly depends on the type of scar.

After care for scar revision is very simple. You will want to have Polysporin or Aloe Vera at home to use for 5 days after treatment. You will have to avoid any exfoliation to your skin with chemical peel or scrubs for 7 days and put on sunscreen . You will have to avoid sauna and steaming for 5 days. Having an ice pack at home is a good idea just in case you are asked to cool off your skin when you get home.

Some redness or swelling can occur after your treatment, and how long it lasts varies from person to person. Mineral makeup can be used to cover redness right away.

Types of acne scars we treat

• Boxcar scars: wider, depressed areas with defined edges.
• Ice-pick scars: narrow, deep indentations.
• Rolling scars: broader, shallow depressions that give the skin an uneven texture.
